How Hope’s House got started…

We felt that there was a need in the community for a stand alone grief resource that was not affiliated with another organization or religion. We took time to learn about all the programs in the area, groups and resources offered online and other bereavement help. We felt that there was an opportunity to provide support that we couldn’t find in the Greater Green Bay area at the time.

Hope's House incorporated in August of 2018 in De Pere, WI. We ran our peer to peer support groups for kids ages 4-18 and their adults twice a month in the Community Room in the East De Pere High School. Due to the growing number of families and kids, we moved to three rooms in the basement De Pere Library. After a year of peer to peer support groups we were able to find our new home at 2301 Riverside Drive in Green Bay, WI.

At our Riverside Drive location we were able to hold 4 kids groups and an adult group twice a month, in our building. Again, due to the growing number of kids and families, we started to outgrow the space. This bumped up with the current pandemic, we moved to online groups once a month for kids and families.

Our current Facebook videos consist of a grief related project you can do individually or as a family. They are designed to use household items. We also share book recommendations for adults and kids. These are all books we have personally read and recommend.

We are excited for the day we can safely run in person grief support groups for kids and their adults again. Be sure to follow us on Facebook or sign up for our newsletters below to get up to date information.

Hope’s House is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization was built to give children, and families hope after a death of a loved one.

In addition to our online kids and family monthly videos, we also have additional resources all available for free. Check out our Grief Groups Page to learn about our Adult pop-up groups. We also have a large library of resources out there for everyone on the topic of grief and death. Be sure to visit our Resources Page to find in person groups, online groups, books, podcasts, websites and more that may help you or a loved on through their grief journey.

We also learned that schools were looking at us to run an in person grief program at their schools. We quickly realized we could not be in so many places at once. So instead, we created a Free Grief Group School Handbook that is available on Resources Page. This helps schools at all levels; elementary, middle, and high school implement a grief group at their school. In the future we will be offering in person or virtual training for any school that wants to take this program and make it a reality. In a nutshell, we are a group of people who all care about the community, kids and families who have gone through a death of a loved one. We are here to help point you in the right direction, or here if you want to join any of our support groups. Navigating a death is not fun or easy, but with help it can be less lonely and scary. Hope’s House is not just for a recent death. We say, a loss, is a loss; regardless of your relationship to them, or the amount of time that has passed.
